Irish Football clubs (North and South) have long had links with certain League and Premiership clubs in the UK and the Scottish Premiership (Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds, Everton – all have a massive following in Ireland) – but with the value of players increasing significantly, it would make good marketing and business sense for more individuals to sensibly investment in Irish Clubs and use them as a marketing development platform – similar to those in the Portuguese and Dutch Football models.
Let’s hope that other parties start to invest in Irish Football clubs and enable them to enhance Irish player development and opportunities to reach the top – after all it may benefit the Irish and Northern Irish National Teams in the long term.
